Professional Experience:
Amy is a partner with Curtis Dawe Lawyers with over 27 years of litigation experience in range of practice areas. She completed a B.Sc.(Biology) from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador in 1992 and a LL.B from the University of New Brunswick in 1995.
Amy’s primary litigation practice includes Natural Resource and Energy Law, Construction Law Media Law and Family Law. Her practice in the Oil and Gas industry in Newfoundland and Labrador has been based on regulatory aspects including administration of the Atlantic Accord legislation and arbitration of royalty disputes. Her work in Construction Law includes work with municipal governments and well as large national contractors operating in the region. In her media law practice, Amy advises broadcasters on issues relating to defamation law, publication bans, sealing orders. Amy’s family law practice includes a no- nonsense and practical approach combined with the knowledge and experience to help client’s navigate the difficult challenges that family law matters entail.

Amy was peer-selected for inclusion in 15th edition of The Best Lawyers in Canada for her work in Energy Regulatory Law, Defamation and Media Law and Family Law.
Outside the Firm:
Amy is a member of the Canadian Energy Law Foundation and the Canadian Media Lawyers Association on which she previously served as the Atlantic Canadian representative. She served two four year terms as a Bencher of the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador. She is a past Chair of Newfoundland and Labrador Crime Stoppers and was appointed an Honourary Life Member of the Royal St. John’s Regatta Committee after serving for over 10 years a committee and executive member.
