Professional Experience:

Dan is a partner with Curtis Dawe. He received a B.Sc. from Simon Fraser University in British Columbia and LL.B. from the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton. Dan was called to the Bar of Newfoundland and Labrador in 2005. He has a varied general practice with a special interest in civil litigation. He has appeared and argued contested matters at all levels of Court in the Province and acted as second counsel on applications and appeals before the Federal Court and Supreme Court of Canada.

Dan volunteered with the Canadian Bar Association from 2008 to 2016 having served as Chair of our province’s local Civil Litigation Section (2008-2011), Chair of the Young Lawyers Conference for Newfoundland and Labrador (2011) and on the National Civil Litigation Section Executive (2011-2016), where he served as National Civil Litigation Chair in 2014-2015.

Dan has conducted legal research and writing for the Pro Bono Society of Canada. He is also a volunteer with the Canadian Bar Association, having served on the executive of the St. John’s branch and as Civil Litigation Section Chair.

Dan’s extracurricular passions include singing, playing guitar, songwriting, recording his music and playing hockey.

His album Outlier: Where Are We Now? streaming on Spotify was nominated for MusicNL Rock Album of the Year in 2021.
