Leah is an associate with Curtis Dawe. 

Leah is an associate with Curtis Dawe. She began practice in Nova Scotia, where she was called to the Nova Scotia Bar in 2022. Leah has been a member of the Newfoundland and Labrador Bar since 2024. She completed her Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Marine Biology at Memorial University in 2016, and her Juris Doctor at the Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University in 2021. Leah also completed a specialization in Marine Law through the Marine & Environmental Law Institute.

Awards and Recognition

As a student, Leah has been recognized with a number of awards and scholarships including:

  • McInnes Cooper Labour Law Prize for Highest Standing in Labour Law;
  • Milton & Carole Ehrlich Prize for Highest Standing in Law of the Sea
  • Elkanah Rafuse Prize for High Standing in Maritime Law; and
  • Stuart Lane Clark and William Ouhit Prize for Highest Standing in Administrative Law.

Leah has published several peer-reviewed papers in both marine biology and marine law. Her most recent publication is “Harnessing Offshore Wind in Canada: The Regulatory Landscape for Offshore Wind Development and Lessons Learned from the United Kingdom, Denmark, and the United States” published in the Ocean Yearbook in 2023.

Leah has also been recognized as a Spring 2023 Thought Leader by legal publishing platform Mondaq for her authorship in the category of Employment & HR Law.

Leah can be found snorkelling, skiing, and enjoying all the nature Newfoundland and Labrador has to offer
